ADVANCE
is
a community service based program, which has been modified from the
Victorian Youth Development Program (VYDP).
- ADVANCE runs for one year
and is a compulsory unit
- The course aims to take
students out of the classroom and offer them a range of opportunities
that promote youth leadership and community service via real life
challenges
- The school establishes a
link with a service provider (Parks Victoria)
- Students each receive a
free pair of boots and a waterproof spray jacket which must be worn
along with their PE uniform to all classes
Students will complete
the following core components:
- Level 1 First Aid

Aquatic awareness
- Water-polo/underwater
hockey
- Fishing
- Canoeing
- Archery
- Environmental awareness
and research
- Revegetation/tree
planting/weed control
- Park reserve management
- Orienteering/navigation
skills
- Water quality testing
- Hiking/Bush walking
